Okay so here we go with Canadian fever again. From Ottawa, Nicolas Johansen seems to have disappeared off of the face of the earth after being touted as one of the next big acts in music. I’ve done a little digging and his record label, Mad Cow Music don’t really seem to exist anymore either. So having pretty much become musically extinct, we as listeners have to make do with what he’s left behind, which isn’t a whole lot.
Numb is a great song. Although the dominant instrument is a piano, there are hints of guitar which become stronger in the chorus. There’s just not an awful lot more to say because it’s simply the catchiness (word?) of Johansen’s vocals which make the song for me. He has one or two other great songs up on his MySpace and official site, and I’d recommend listening to Adrenaline, because that’s my other favourite. As for Nick himself, let’s hope he’s okay and considering returning to the business, although it’s about as likely as Tinie Tempah getting married.
