B I G S L E E P
I don’t need to tell you how excited I am by the news of a second song from Big Sleep (no spaces for ease of typing!) but suffice to say, this made my month. Big Sleep have an infectious sound and are sure to make it big this year if they just keep going. Sometimes there are bands and songs that just need to be heard and this year that is definitely Big Sleep.
Despite a strangely quiet marketing strategy, the group recently toured supporting Little Comets and Ghosts was an outstanding opener for the reformed group. Their second release is a very different type of sound. Sex is a re-imagining of the song that Drive Like I Do (the former version of the group) brought out a couple of years back and the changes that have been made have certainly been for the better. (The original version is above, the new one is below.) It’s catchier, more exciting and just a clear indication of who Big Sleep are now. This is a great track and a worthy follow-up to Ghosts – if you haven’t heard of Big Sleep yet, wake up and listen!
And like Ghosts, the second song’s video is filmed in what is a really cool band room. Awesome haircuts and all, this is a sweet music video.
