Music-Related Smart Phone Apps

Smart phones continue to expand and improve in ways that are becoming difficult to predict, but one of the most steadily fantastic things about them is the increased access to music they provide. Being able to listen to music on your mobile phone is not necessarily a new concept for most people, but there are newer capabilities that are very exciting for music fans. For example, now, on most any smart phone you purchase at O2, you will have access to a number of different apps designed to help you find and enjoy new music. Here are a few examples that are very popular with music lovers.

Pandora – Probably the most well-known of any music-related app, Pandora was the first mainstream program designed for helping people to find new music based on what they already liked. With Pandora, you are able to create personalized radio stations simply by starting with a single song or artist. The app will use that song or artist to find similar music to fill out that individual station. Not only is this a great way to sit back and enjoy music that suits your taste, but it can also lead you to discovering new bands and songs.

Songza – Another app designed partially to help you find new songs, Songza actually operates with regard to moods and situations. This is by nature less precise, but it can still be a lot of fun to play with, and it can still lead you to discovering new music. Basically, here’s how it works: you can input a mood or situation, such as “driving at night” or “making breakfast,” and Songza will compile a play list that is designed to fit that situation. Naturally, not every song will be perfect in every consumer’s eyes, but it’s fun to see what Songza comes up with, and you may well discover a good deal of new music.

You can catch Carly Rae (and pretty much everyone else) on Spotify

Spotify – Finally, there’s Spotify, which has fast become one of the most popular apps of any kind available. While Spotify is not specifically designed to help you to find new music, it does give you the ability to listen to just about any song you could possibly desire. There is a monthly fee for this service, but once you have access to Spotify, you will be able to listen to any song, any time you want, through the app. You can also make and save play lists in order to avoid the hassle of having to find your favourite songs every time. Many serious fans of music find that Spotify is even more useful than the ability to download music to an iTunes library.
