Sorry that this week’s installment of WWLT is a couple of hours late. The blame lies in the economy, it has hit all of us hard, including music blogs and one of their weekly columns.
Henry: Carried Away – Passion Pit
Michael reviewed this album a while back and I haven’t been able to stop listening ever since its release. Carried Away is the highlight of the album.
Ammar: You – Gold Panda
Gold Panda adds Japanese melodies to an endless looping of the word ‘you.’ It sounds terrible on paper but the result is hypnotic and frakking fantastic.
Michael: Civilian – Wye Oak
This is probably deserving of much more than just a pithy couple of sentences because – frack me – it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Also, it was in The Walking Dead soooo… pretty much amazing.
Elliot: Hold On Loosely – .38 Special
Another film, another great song. Without A Paddle is a classic summer film (watch it) and along with it comes two of my favourite songs – one of which I plan to write about later, but this is a perfect cruising tune. Belt it out (if you haven’t got it already from Michael’s Single Shot months back).
