Taylor Swift just redefined her sound. What happens next?

Not much probably but it’s exciting!

If you want to check out some more Taylor Swift coverage, pop over here to find her 9 best songs.

There have been a steady stream of singles leaked from Red, Taylor Swift’s upcoming album. There was the MTV-fanfare of We Are Never Getting Back Together, the ambiguous love (?) song Red but then a real big-hitter. State of Grace, the leading track off of Red is a total game-changer. It’s the best song Taylor Swift’s ever made and the one most likely to win over new fans. It’s a sweeping track that wouldn’t have been out of place on U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind (which may just be one of my favourite albums ever). And it’s somewhat of a departure from Taylor’s standard sound. You just have to be familiar with the concept of a hashtag to guess that most comments under the YouTube video lament Taylor’s new sound. ‘I don’t like the new Taylor’ is a fair comment but also a fairly redundant one. Artists change, styles progress, trends sweep the scene. Not every song can be We Are Never Getting Back Together, and all of the rest of her songs won’t be State of Grace. Give people room to breathe, they’ll pay you back one day. In the meantime, listen to State of Grace and understand what all the fuss is about:
