Apologies for my absence in the past few days, but I’m back with an old school cracker. For anybody jetting off , play this one and get emotional if you fancy it.
John Denver really needs no introduction. He’s a singer songwriter hailing from the late 60’s, and pretty much set the tone for a lot of country style singer songwriters. 12 gold and 4 platinum albums speaks for itself, he really was a trend setter his death in the 90’s sent shockwaves through the musical world. His style is a very personal one, and this is definitely going to be one of his more emotional songs.
Leaving On A Jet Plane is the tale of Denver leaving behind his sweetheart as he hits the road to go on tour. It’s a heartfelt song, with some beautiful, simple lyrics throughout, merely asking her to sit for him and smile for him. He definitely knows his audience, and this is a song that tugs at the heartstrings, especially for anyone leaving somebody behind, for however long. So play this for your sweetheart, and hopefully, unlike Denver, you know when you’ll be coming back to them (4th of January for me, don’t miss me too much!). Let Denver take you away on a jet plane with him here.
