So I’m a bit late to the party, but Chance The Rapper is fast becoming one of the hottest prospects in the college hip hop scene. Find out why I’m slow and he’s awesome here.
So Chance The Rapper is warming up for Kendrick in the coming months. That doesn’t just happen to some random kid… This guy is the real deal (we all know how much I love Kendrick.) At just 19, this Chicago born “Rap Master” as his Facebook calls himself, he first hit the scene in 2011 with a sweet video for Nostalgia. Here he is, with a Good Ass Intro.
I’m a big fan of his unique voice. There’s a rasping quality to it that reminds me of some Kendrick, and Lil’ Wayne without the massive irritating factor to it. His production qualities are sick, and his flow keeps up with it all. Mixing it up throughout, the pace rises and drops as the trumpets kick and that loop comes through. He borders on singing at times, but then pulls it back with some incredible rhymes and he spits pretty hard at times (I feel infinitely cooler just writing that.) I really like his mixtape, 10 Days, and am really getting into his whole style. AcidRap comes out in April and if this is anything to go by, we should be mighty excited. On a side note, the video is also sick, and bright as hell.
