Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin’ – Mayer Hawthorne

Good God, his edginess is just amazing.

Good God, his edginess is just amazing.

Yes there may be about 8000 apostrophes in that song title, but Mayer is back to the blog for some old school stuff off his 2009 album, and he’s keeping it funky as ever.

A Strange Arrangement is an album I discovered only a year or two back, but it has grown on me especially these past few months. I’m a big fan of his style, hailing back to classy music back from the 60’s, and Your Easy Lovin’ is a perfect example of that Easy Goin’ style of his. I could basically become his song writer! ( I couldn’t. I don’t wear cool neck scarves.)

That first beat kicks and you know exactly what you’re in for here. Hawthorne has a soft voice that is perfectly complimented by these easy jazz beats, and I always find this song speeds by me. I’m listening again for about the fourth time, much to the annoyance of my present guests (well, it would be if this wasn’t such a tune) and I’m still humming along. That beat is just totally infectious. Check it out.
