Get on the HYPE: Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

This album is sensational, from first song to last. Please don’t be stupid, just buy it. You’ll thank me later.

So much of Vampire Weekend’s old sound made people doubt their ability to last, myself included. But they haven’t stuck to that old sound, and that’s a very good thing. All of the charm from their self-titled LP, and slightly less charming Contra, is still packed into every song but oh how they’ve grown. Lyrically brilliant and perfectly made, this is the album of the year thus far and unless The National conjure up something very special, it will be come this year’s end. I’m not joking, Step feels too good to even exist.
