The Best Katy Perry Remixes

Katy Perry Prism Remixes copy

Have you taken up running again this year? Well some of us never bloody gave it up so we have constant streams of running music. But, whatever: We could always do with some new music. Inspired by this post of Katy Perry’s best remixes, we’re rounding up the best from KP’s PRISM which should last you a good few months at least. Per the original article:

Katy Perry  ‘has really made sure to embrace remix culture, with practically every track of hers being remixed by some of the best in the current dance music scene. Hell, Tommie Sunshine was handpicked to knock out megamixes of her material in years past.’

Well said. There will be some running music on this, but also some brilliant remixes for your hedonism (I don’t know your life). Let’s make it like your birthday everyday:

1) Roar – Kennedy Jones

I know, I know the Treasurefingers remix is good. But this is better. I’m not nattering on about it because y’all already read about it here, right?

2) Dark Horse – Damn Right

This takes almost everything from Katy Perry’s latest single (climbing up those charts) and kinda throws it out the window. And that overhaul is great: You can’t deny that drop on the final kilometre of your run. You can’t, I’ve tried (and also 2.55 makes the entire song worth listening to). So in short: Good for a run, but even better for when you’re at a party. Also, it’s free right now so go get it:

Damn Wright’s Twitter is here – go follow him.

3) Birthday – DJ Habits

This is a twerk remix which I know, I know, but it’s great. It’ll tide over all those moments that you miss Girl Talk for sure. It’s also free, and not as big as those above so be cool before everyone. This is also house-party-adjacent and it’s my favourite song of PRISM so actually I don’t really care if you like it or not. Sure talked my way out of that one:

4) Walking on Air – Dustbuster & La+ch

The Countryclub remix was pushed for this promo-single but I prefer this trap remix so sue me. It’s utterly sophisticated – 90s, and modern day all at one right down to those anthemic echoes  at the 1 minute mark  (thanks a lot, The Lumineers/Mumford/Avicii)- and improves on one of PRISM’s strongest songs. People were so much cooler a decade ago (but if I’m inited to another 90s themed party I’m going to deny the existence of that decade. We get it: You like Converse and balloons.):

5) Unconditionally – Country Club Martini Crew

I’m posting the radio edit because the extended is really, well, extended. Unconditionally desperately needed this kick and it’s done well for itself (it climbed to the top of the U.S club charts) and this sounds like 2014’s answer to Clarity. There, I’ve called it.

6) This Moment – Nance

This is a little off-piste but I think this is a rough gem. It’s uncovered This Moment’s potential and turned it into solid Euro club trash (that’s a compliment). Just need to fix that drop, or just use it as your cool-down track. This is the indie-est this list is getting:

7) Roar – Cazette

I’m putting this up because it’s a little trippier than the other Roar remixes and benefits a lot from standing out from the crowd. It doesn’t do anything wild exactly, but it strips it down a little and speeds it up a lot:

8) Perfume – A. Turk Smells Like Trap

I thought we needed a bonus Britney detour so here’s a trap remix of her latest single. Now you can listen to Britney and get baked! (This is a joke).
